The Intelligent Friend - The newsletter about the AI-humans relationships, based only on scientific papers.
Dear readers, we're finally here, the announcement I've been wanting to give you for days is ready to be revealed: today I'm talking to you about the new weekly format that you will find here on The Intelligent Friend. A very different issue than usual but which I am convinced will attract your attention: Intellibox, that which will enrich the paid subscription of The Intelligent Friend. Let's find out together!
What is Intellibox?
I told you a while ago that I would be working on an issue on how AI can improve human results. I worked really hard on it, to arrive at an original and different form from what I already write. Intellibox will consist of two fundamental parts:
In the first part you will find a paper relating to how AI can improve human results in a certain task or a piece of research that caught my attention and which I think is valuable and worth sharing with you. Unlike the "classic" numbers of The Intelligent Friend, however, the explanation will be a little more surrogate and straight to the point: I will focus more on the task, on how AI intervened in the process and on the concrete insights deriving from the research. In short, another issue based on scientific studies to understand our relationships with AI even more.
Now, however, we come to the second part. Which is also why, as you may be asking, this issue will not be called 'Augmentation', but 'Intellibox'.
In the box
I thought for a long time about something original that could actively involve you, also given the great positive feedback you have given me in recent months, since I started writing the Intelligent Friend. Well, this issue will cover papers in which we will see analyzes and studies on different uses of AI. So I thought, it's time for the community to start experimenting too, to 'get their hands dirty' and, last but not least, to have fun.
So, to get straight to the point, while in the first part you will find an explained paper, in the second you will find a simulation of an environment, a game, a challenge of various types that will push you to reflect, think, go outside the box or use the AI proactively.
How will it work? simple: I'll leave you a prompt that you just have to copy and paste onto ChatGPT-4 (which I recommend) or other chatbots you prefer. So, it will work with any free version of chatbot. Not only that: in each issue I'll give you some context on the challenge, goals and advice.
Fine, but what do I mean by 'challenges', 'simulations', 'games'? Here are some examples of unique challenges you'll dive into with ChatGPT-4 or otherwise that I'll create prompts and context for:
Create a new Marvel superhero;
Search for an unknown animal in the rainforest;
Create a roadmap to write your book in a month;
And much more (I don’t want to spoiler everything now!).
Since this will be part of the paid subscription but I want everyone to be able to "try it", the first two issues will be free. I want you to have as much fun as possible with these simulations and discovering the research on how AI can be used in a variety of ways. Of course, you can also already subscribe - especially annually - and get the classic issues, Nucleus and Intellibox issues at a cost of only 50 USD per year!
P.S. Occasionally, I might also write a personal opinion essay, I would also like to surprise you with!
A little change
Now, since this issue is aimed at getting you to experiment with AI in an original way and engage you, I would really like you to share the results you get. So here's a small change that will affect The Intelligent Friend chat.
Society (our chat), will be open to everyone, because I would like you, especially in the first two weeks, to be able to share the wonderful things you have created. However, many threads will still be paid, in order to still create exclusive content for those who decide to pursue a paid offer.
Furthermore, by becoming an open chat, I will periodically share content, news and ask you for opinions or updates on challenges, in order to inspire others!
All clear? A new issue in which you will discover other insights from papers and a challenge/simulation in which you will immerse yourself by experimenting with AI in strange, stimulating and often fun activities.
Intellibox will be released every Friday, in order to have some space from Nucleus (which comes out on Wednesdays) and the "classic" issues that come out on Sundays. Therefore, the first issue will be released on Friday 31 May.
As regards the cost of the paid offer, I'll give you some great news: it won't change. The price always remains the same, 5 USD per month, exactly. This issue is intended to enrich the offer, not to make it cost even more. And I want, as I have always said, to enhance the work I do by giving the best I can to you readers, who constantly reciprocate me with your comments and appreciation.
So now, in The Intelligent Friend's paid subscription offer, for just 5 USD, you will find:
The classic issues of The Intelligent Friend, in which we delve into a paper on human-AI relations (every Sunday);
Nucleus, the exclusive issue where you will find summaries of papers, insights, reading recommendations and other interesting things (every Wednesday);
Intellibox, the new exclusive issue in which you will find a paper on how AI can be applied or improve human results, and a simulation that you can "play" by challenging yourself and stimulating your skills (every Friday);
Exclusive threads in the chat, which I call 'Society', which will also become open to allow people to see the shared results from these challenges.
I'd say it's a really nice offer, don't you think?
If you thought so, well, you can subscribe for just $5 and get everything you see above! 💸
I'd say I've explained you enough. Let me know in the comments what you think of this idea and... see you in the next issue!
